Join the fun by becoming a volunteer! We offer two shifts for a variety of positions. The best part? You can check out the event for FREE for the other half of the day (either before or after your shift).
To volunteer, please send an email to us at truckeewinewalk@gmail.com.
Several spots are needed for volunteers to assist the steering committee with set-up prior to the event. Duties include, but are not limited to: setting up registration, delivering supplies to participation venues (such as water pitchers, wine openers, plates, forks, napkins, etc.), delivering ice to venues that need it, putting balloon bunches in front of participating venues, posting flyers throughout downtown, etc.
Volunteers at registration should be highly proficient in money-handling, should be able to work quickly in a fast-paced environment and have excellent customer service skills. Positions within registration include cash sales, will call check-off, processing ticket holders, handing out programs, maps/flyers, and wine glasses and affixing wrist bands on attendees. Also includes various other duties as needed (set-up for 1st shift and clean-up for 2nd shift).
Floaters will move throughout various sections of town checking in on venues, wineries, restaurants/caterers and volunteers. Floaters may relieve wine reps if needed, get additional supplies, alert the Wine, Walk & Shop staff to venues in need of more ice, etc. Also includes various other duties as needed (set-up for 1st shift and clean-up for 2nd shift).
Volunteers in this position will patrol an assigned section of town (typically an area that covers 5-7 storefronts). Patrollers will carry dump buckets and will be on the lookout for any event attendees on the street with wine. Wine must be consumed inside each venue and is not allowed on the street. Patrollers may also help direct people and answer questions (volunteers will be given information sheets including frequently asked questions). Also includes various other duties as needed (set-up for 1st shift and clean-up for 2nd shift).
Limited spots are need for volunteers to pour wine as many of the winery reps enjoying coming to the event and talking about the wine themselves. However, in the instance they can’t be there, a volunteer pourer will take their place. Volunteer pourers will be asked to pour wine tastings (small 1-2 ounce pours) and interact with the public. Volunteer pourers may also need to refill water pitcher, empty dump bucket, alert “Floaters” or other Wine, Walk & Shop staff if additional supplies, including ice, need to be replenished and other duties as needed.
Limited spots are need for volunteers to serve food as most of the offsite restaurants/caterers will be there to serve themselves. However, in the instance they can’t be there, a volunteer server will take their place. Volunteer servers will be asked to serve small food samplings and interact with the public. Volunteer servers may also need to alert “Floaters” or other Wine, Walk & Shop staff if additional supplies, including napkins or utensils, need to be replenished and various other duties as needed.
